This Woman Runs and Forestry England Join Forces to Launch Women's Trail Running Groups

We’re excited to start the New Year with announcing an exciting new partnership between This Woman Runs (TWR) and Forestry England, bringing dedicated trail running groups for women to some of the most beautiful forests in England.

Launching in late Spring, these weekly running groups will take place across five iconic forests - Alice Holt, Salcey, Thames Chase, Delamere, and Wyre, inviting women to experience the transformative benefits of running in nature.

Connecting Women with Nature

Led by TWR's trained volunteers, known as Run Angels, these 30-minute sessions are designed for women of all abilities. Whether you’re new to trail running or a seasoned runner looking for a change of scenery, the groups offer a low-pressure, inclusive environment where participants can enjoy the magic of forest trails.

A Word from Our Partners

"This partnership with This Woman Runs demonstrates our commitment to making the nation's forests more accessible and welcoming to everyone," said Alexander Broun, Marketing Manager, Forestry England . "These running groups will provide women with the opportunity to get active, build confidence, and become part of a supportive community in some of England's most beautiful natural settings."

Mel Bound, founder of This Woman Runs, shares: "We are thrilled to be launching this partnership with Forestry England, taking our community from pavements to the trails. Running isn’t about pace or pressure—it’s about creating space for women to breathe, connect, and feel empowered. The magic of running in nature cannot be overstated; it’s about unlocking freedom, headspace, and joy. Together with Forestry England, we’re opening up these stunning forest trails so more women can experience the transformative power of running in nature, no matter their starting point."

What to Expect

  • Inclusive and Welcoming: Each run is 30 minutes long and guided by Run Angels, who create a safe and supportive environment for all participants.

  • Community and Connection: After each session, runners are invited to stay for a coffee, offering a chance to share stories, build friendships, and connect with like-minded women.

  • A Journey, Not a Race: Whether you’re looking for headspace, fitness, or social connection, these runs offer something truly unique.

Get Involved

We’re looking for local women to join as Run Angels - volunteers who help lead the runs and inspire others to take their first steps into trail running. Full training and support are provided.
